The OJAM technical team have been working hard to integrate a number of solutions supporting the online community for OJAM. Managing online social interaction is a big challenge and the rapid growth of blogging, forum and online messaging services highlights the need for real innovation in this area.

We're also aware that many Oracle clients, partners and implementers are facing the same challenges - of finding the right mix of tools to deliver a compelling online community - for their own intranet and employee applications and for better servicing the needs of their customers.

OJAM is a living case study of a how to deliver an online community from the ground up, using Oracle tools. We're starting with a deployment of tried and true Oracle Portal 10G, and using standard features to deliver a rich website with single-signon capabilities and integration to a customised forum built in Java (actually, built in Groovy Java on GRAILS). The forum will 'mash up' multimedia, blogging and discussion forum features to give us a great place to interact.

Stage II of the OJAM technology strategy is an 'upgrade' of Oracle Portal to WebCenter 11G! We'll provide a blow-by-blow account of how this is planned, how the deployment works and what features are used to improve the overall experience. WebCenter will be used to provide improved statistics on usage and better connectivity between OJAM members.

Stage III brings onboard BeeHive and UCM - along with new meeting and content management features for the OJAM community.

We're glad to have you along for the journey - keep an eye on the forums for the Site Technology discussion forum where you can ask more in depth questions!
